Weekend Road Trip
March 24, 2009 – 5:49 pm
I have several dear friends and family members in So Cal, so while we’re still here, I’m hoping to visit them all. On the weekend of March 7th, we packed our bags, jumped in the car, pressed “play” on the iPod (listened to “The Tale of Two Cities”) and headed south to the Carlsbad area. ...read more...
An Unexpected Treat
March 24, 2009 – 11:09 am
On March 4th, Nate’s sister and her son, Joanna and Liam, surprised us with a visit from the Bay Area! It’s not often that our family and friends from up north can just “pop in”, so we were really excited to see them. They had taken the spur-of-the-moment trip to drive a dog back to ...read more...
Wandering the Getty
March 24, 2009 – 10:42 am
Nate had a few days off at the beginning of March, so we decided to play tourists and visit the famous Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Admission was free, though parking was $10–still a bargain at $5/person. The architecture was unique and the exhibits were fairly extensive, including some of my favorite artists: Monet, Van ...read more...
A Wii Bit of Fun
March 10, 2009 – 6:33 pm
Wii enjoyed a fun evening of pizza and Wii with our seminarian friends. It was hilarious watching as each individual (including myself), tried to conquer his/her challenge. Wii played Wii Fit balance games and Wii Sports. Definitely good times with good friends. (I want to acknowledge Priscilla for inspiring the creative title of this post.) ...read more...
My Girls
March 9, 2009 – 12:32 pm
There’s been a special group of girls that I’ve come to know and love over the last several months. They’re all seminary wives, all transplants to the L.A. area, and all very godly and wonderful women. We try to meet every other week or so for prayer and encouragement. We also have lots of fun ...read more...
A Cambodian Reunion
March 8, 2009 – 10:39 am
Last weekend, we hosted a reunion for the short-term missions team that Nate lead to Cambodia last summer. It was a potluck event, and everyone provided scrumptious dishes. One of the guys even made homemade lasagna (thanks, Garret!) We tried to make it a little Cambodian with Khmer music playing in the background, and providing ...read more...
A Formal Affair
March 7, 2009 – 8:30 am
On February 27th, we attended the Master’s Seminary Spring Banquet at the Ronald Reagan Library. We were able to see both Air Force One and the Magna Carta (there for a limited time), before the banquet began. The food was delicious and the entertainment was wonderful, with Fernando Ortega providing a beautiful concert. John MacArthur ...read more...
