New Christmas Traditions
December 29, 2010 – 8:20 pm
This has been our first Christmas season in Cambodia–our first year of creating new traditions and new memories. It has been a little difficult since Cambodia generally does not celebrate the holiday. There are remnants here and there–more for commercial reasons–but you still have to look pretty hard to find any semblance of Christmas. And ...read more...
Stop, Police.
December 21, 2010 – 10:14 pm
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you ...read more...
Ava’s Puakmacks
December 8, 2010 – 10:58 pm
Technically, the Khmer transliteration is puakmack Ava, meaning “Ava’s friend(s)”. Once a week, Ava and I go to a playgroup with other expat moms and kids. This has been such a sweet blessing–to connect with other women in a similar situation. It’s been a source of advice, information, encouragement, and just plain fun. The women ...read more...

December 8, 2010 – 8:35 pm
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…at least in the Wells home. “A lot like”, and not “exactly like”, defining our current experience. It’s also ...read more...
Christine, Cockroaches, and Chicken Pot Pie…Oh my!
December 8, 2010 – 8:30 pm
November was a fairly low-key month, apart from an invasion of cockroaches, visiting Andong with Christine, baking my first chicken pot pie from scratch–including my first homemade pie crust (and the Thanksgiving holiday and Nate’s birthday, of course). Here are a few of the memories that I wanted to capture forever in cyberspace. CHRISTINE – ...read more...
Our First Thanksgiving
December 5, 2010 – 9:52 pm
Traditionally, Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and friends, enjoying a bountiful array of delicious food while reflecting with gratitude on life’s many blessings, and ultimately, the Source of those blessings. It is an American holiday, originating from the 1621 joint harvest celebration of the Pilgrims, settlers of Plymouth, Massachusetts, and the Wampanoag ...read more...
Nate’s Birthday
December 5, 2010 – 9:40 pm
Twenty-eight years ago, Nate was born on Thanksgiving day (at 12pm–just in time for turkey!). This year, his birthday once again fell on the holiday (November 25th). We celebrated by going to our favorite breakfast place, the Shop Too (where we had gone for my birthday as well). We enjoyed a leisurely, yummy breakfast, followed ...read more...
